TouchPoints Counseling & Consulting

Specializing in You

Counseling

Every individual is unique and my counseling approach reflects this. I am honored to be allowed to join you on your journey as you navigate life's challenges.

Depression & Anxiety

Counseling will help you to identify negative or irrational thinking patterns that contribute to feelings of hopelessness and helplessness, and to develop a more positive outlook. Improved interpersonal relationships, greater self-acceptance, and the ability to change self-defeating behaviors and habits, are a few of the benefits.

Academic

Academic counseling begins with an assessment of needs, strengths, and weaknesses. We work together through individual sessions or in a group setting to develop skills necessary for academic and interpersonal satisfaction, build upon individual strengths, and identify factors to motivate every learner.

Academic/Career Coaching

Whereas academic counseling can be applied to students of all ages, Academic/Career Coaching is intended for high school and beginning college students.

Assessments are utilized to identify strengths and interests before exploring potential academic and/or career choices. Schools of preference are researched to identify which have the desired program(s) and culture. Resources and/or referrals are provided and next steps identified.

Grief & Loss

Grief and loss apply to any situation in which you have had to say goodbye before you were ready. Having someone outside your family and social circle to process raw feelings, can help you to remember your loved one while living each day as it comes.

Trauma & PTSD

There are many circumstances that result in trauma and sometimes PTSD. I am a Certified Trauma Professional and trained to help you move past the traumatizing event and to develop boundaries and safety skills to make you better prepared to protect and honor yourself.

My Story

Every Aspect of Life is a Learning Opportunity

A Career Imagined

I have always had a heart for service and helping others but it wasn't until I had been diagnosed with leukemia at the age of 20, that I realized how this would manifest in my life.

For lack of a non-biased person to discuss my fears and losses with, I vowed to be that person for others should I survive.

It took me 10 years to graduate, having had to take 1-2 classes at a time for a while, but my goal was realized in 2003 when I graduated with a Masters in Counseling.

Life Experience

Cancer survivorship, infertility, miscarriages, academic obstacles, and a close family member's victimization are just a few of the struggles I've faced and the journey is not over. None of us is meant to traverse the perils of life alone and my experiences have made me more empathetic so that I am better able to serve you in your struggles.
